Report on West Coast Spring Showcase

The West Coast Spring Showcase was held Sunday May 24 at Douglas College in New Westminster, British Columbia Here is a report on the event with the prospects that attracted our attention.

 

Top Prospect: 

6’3 SG Hadi Bazzi of Norte Dame Regional Secondary (2029)-BC 1

Bazzi is a shooting guard with nice all-around skills and a good feel for the game. He can score from all three levels (perimeter, mid-range, at the rim) and can also finish in transition. Bizzi also uses “smarts” to keep the opponent off balance.

5’11 CG Gujowan Cheema of Tamanawis Secondary (2026)- BC 2

Cheema is a versatile combo guard who can play on or off the ball. He handles it well and has an impressive pull up game-both in transition and in the half court. Cheema shoots it fairly well with 3-point range and has an ok hesitation move.

6’2 PG Moses Garneau of Pemberton Secondary (2008)- Squamish Hustle

Garneau is a solid point guard who is very effective in transition. He’s a nice ball hander and a real good passer who sees the floor well. Garneau has a nice hesitation move in the half court and gets to the hoop on the drive consistently.

5’9 PG Dylan Parekh of Sir Charles Tupper (2027)-BC 2

Parekh is a fairly athletic one man with burst who excels in transition. He does see the floor and can find the open man on the break and also get to the hoop and finish. Parekh has the ability to pull up in the mid-range and he plays in attack mode.

5’10 CG Jaxon Owen Planta of Vancouver College (2028)-BC 2

Planta is a combo guard who is a confident ball handler who can run the floor real well. He shoots the ball with 3-point range and he’s a solid driver. Planta looks to attack on the offensive end on a consistent basis.

6’2 5G Adonis Spikes of Windermere Secondary (2028)-BC 2

Spikes is a solid all-around two guard with length and some athleticism. He can handle the ball and is a capable playmaker in transition. Spikes has a solid mid-range pull up, shoots it ok with 3 range and drives it well.

6’1 SG Isaac Tou of Yale Secondary (2028)- BC 2

Tou is a competent two guard with long arms who brings a solid skill set to the table.  He can handle and pass it and he does an ok job making plays in transition. He can pull up or finish on the break effectively. Tou does a real nice job of talking at both ends of the floor.

Average athlete, ok ball handler, ok playmaker in transition, capable driver.

6’0 G/W Harrison Bannemor of Isfeld Secondary (2028)- Dime Valley 2

Average/fair athlete, can run, can handle and pass it, ok driver.

6’3 W Nathan Gallagher of Highland Secondary (2027)- Dime Valley 1

Average athlete, moves ok without the ball, ok 3-point shooter-can catch and shoot, gets to the hoop on the drive.

5’11 Mike Bopp Carrasco of Burnaby Mountain Secondary (2028)- BC 1

Average athlete, runs well, solid handler, sees the floor well, moves ok without the ball, can dribble operates on the block.

5’9 SG Kayra Hatip of Magee Secondary (2028)- Newton

Average athlete, runs hard, can handle it, pulls up half court, shoots it ok (3 range), does attack, has a motor.

5’10 PG Martin Joyce of Grandview Heights Secondary (2028)-BC 1

Average athlete, handles it, shoots it ok with long 3- range, can drive-sneaky first step.

5’11 CG Wylie Kretsch of Howe Sound Secondary (2028) – Squamish Hustle

Average athlete, handles fairly well, sees the court, can pull up mid- range, moves well without the ball, good 3-point shooter (can catch and shoot) ok driver.

5’10 CG Jacob Madarasz of Rutland Senior Secondary (2028)-BC 2

Decent athlete, can run, handles it well, sees the floor, finishes in transition, drives it well-solid first step, has an ok floater.

5’9 CG Aiden Phillip of Isfeld Secondary (2027) -Dime Valley

Average athlete, has sneaky burst, handles it well, can pass, sees the court, has a nice step back move.

5’4 PG Charlie Radford of Vanier Secondary (2028)- Dime Valley 2

Fairly good athlete, can handle it, pushes the break, shoots it ok (3 range) works on defense.

6’1 SG Daksh Sabharwal of Tamanawis Secondary (2026)- Newton

Decent athlete, can run, handles fairly well, finishes ok in transition, can drive-ok first step.

6’2 CG Rhus Warburton of Howe Sound Secondary (2028)- Squamish Hustle

Average athlete, capable ball handler, fairly good shooter with 3-point range, ok driver.
