                          Report on So Cal Fall Senior Showcase

The 2^nd annual So Cal Fall Senior Showcase was held Saturday, September 29^th at Cerritos College in Norwalk. Here is a report on the event.

 

Top Prospects:

6’9 Erik Grajales of ASI Prep Academy 2019

Grajales is a fairly athletic five man with long arms. He has versatile all-around skills: he’s an ok passer, has a nice one-bounce drive from the high post, he can dribble operates on the block and has an ok jump hook. He is also a capable rebounder. Grajales does have upside and is a potential Division 1 prospect.

 

6’2 SG Jazerie Hoggatts of ABE Prep Academy 2019

Hoggatts is a strong and athletic two guard with long arms who can score in a variety of ways. He has a pull up game in the half court and can also finish on the drive. He shoots it ok with 3 range and has a jump hook on the block. Hoggatts is also a capable defender.

 

6’7 CF Bryce Johnson of St Mary’s HS 2019 (Port City 17U)

Johnson is a combo forward who is an effective scorer inside and out. He has a consistent motor and a solid feel for the game. He is a solid defender and rebounder as well. Johnson is the type of player you want on your side and is a sure-fire Division I prospect.

 

6’6 CF Riel Morant of Scale Prep 2019

Morant is a strong and active combo forward who prefers to play facing the basket. He’s a decent ball handler who can get to the basket on the drive. He moves ok without the ball and can shoot it with 3 point range. Morant is also a capable rebounder who does pursue the ball on the glass.

 

6’2 G/W Yohance Sharpe of Littlerock HS 2019 (AV Wolfpack)

Sharpe is an athletic guard/wing with burst. He is an excellent driver with a solid first step. He also shows the ability to pull up both in transition and in the half court. Sharpe’s need at this point is to prove himself as a perimeter shooter.

 

6’2 PG Jayden Winfrey of Redondo Union HS 2019 (Seahawks)

Winfrey had an impressive performance making plays for himself and others. He’s an athletic one-man with solid ball handling and passing skills and he pushes the breaks consistently. He shoots it ok with 3-range and has a floater. Winfrey needs to develop some bulk/strength to help prepare him for next level.

 

6’2 SG Matt Solomon of Newbury Park HS, 2019 (Team Independent)

Solomon was out-standing at this event! He is a competitive and talented two guard who is deceptively athletic (has very nice lift). He shoots it fairly well with 3 range. He has a sneaky good first step and goes hard to the basket on the drive. He is a capable defender and rebounder as well. Solomon clearly put himself on the radar with his excellent performance. Don’t sleep on him low majors!

6’4 CF David Agba of Scale Prep 2019

Runs the floor well, can post up some, strong to the basket on the drive, active on the glass.

 

5’10 PG Jaelen Bates of Lincoln HS 2019 (Port City 17U)

Real athletic, smooth ball handler and passer, effective in transition (pulls up well), sees the floor, effective penetrator-gets in the lane.

 

6’6 SF Chase Bowsher of Redondo Union HS 2019 (Seahawks)

Decent athlete, long arms, runs the floor well, handles it ok, moves fairly well without the ball, ok driver, can rebound.

 

6’2 CG Lorenzo Bright of Scale Prep 2019

Athletic, good passer, moves well without the ball, can score, ok rebounder, has a nice feel.

 

5’11 PG Andrew Brown of Pacifica HS 2019 (Team Independent)

Athletic-runs real well, handles it fairly well, can shoot it fairly well from 3.

 

6’5 G/W Yvan Cheviot of ASI Prep 2019

Athletic, strong, fairly long arms, can handle it, good 3-point shooter, finishes well, ok rebounder and defender.

 

6’7 C Justice Cole of Fresno International Prep 2019

Ok athlete, long arms, decent strength, can pass it, has an ok one-bounce drive, solid rebounder.

 

*6’0 CG Weston Crump of Chaminade Prep 2019 (Team Independent)

Very nice offensive skills set, supreme 3-point shooter, solid handler, has an ok pullup game, has a bit of burst.

 

5’9 PG Rayvon Davis of ABE Prep 2019

Real athletic, can handle it, has an ok hesitation move and a solid floater, a hustler.

 

6’1 CG Joe Garello of Carmel HS 2019 (Team Independent)

Real good ball handler and passer, makes plays in transition, plays with confidence, high IQ.

 

6’1 G/W Kody King of Academy of Sports Science 2020

Athletic, moves well without the ball, passes it well, ok driver, decent shooter with 3 range, takes charges.

 

*6’3 SG Alex Kowal of Redondo Union HS 2019 (Seahawks)

Athletic, makes plays in transition (can finish), solid middle game, has a hesitation move.

 

6’0 PG Paul Matthis of ASI Prep 2019

Nice quickness, playmaker who gets in the lane, has a nice floater, shoots it ok from 3, can run a team, defends on ball.

 

5’11 PG Stephon Mahoney of Littlerock HS 2019 (AV Wolfpack)

Solid ball handling skills, can make plays in transition, nice pull up game half court, shoots it fairly well with 3-point range.

 

5’11 PG Spencer Mc Donald of Cooper Academy 2019

Confident ball handler, has a pull up game half court, shoots it ok with 3-point range, effective penetrator.

 

6’0 PG Terrance Moorehead of Fresno International Prep 2019

Fairly athletic, handles it well, pulls up ok in the half court, decent shooter with 3 range, has an ok hesitation move.

 

6’4 CF Chimeze Maduno of Redondo Union HS 2019 (Seahawks)

Ok athlete, can bounce it, ok driver, has a floater, capable rebounder.

 

6’0 CG Torshawn Roland of Academy of Sports Science 2019

Very athletic, has nice burst, handles and passes it well, good driver with a nice first step, decent rebounder, does hustle.

 

*5’10 PG Tawrence Shoffner of ABE Prep 2019

Athletic, has a real nice hesitation burst, gets to the basket with ease, ok (set) shooter with 3 range, true leader.

 

6’1 CG Carson Simi of St. Mary’s HS 2019

High IQ, makes the right play at the right time, solid ball handling skills, can shoot it, takes charges.

 

6’2 SG Mike Solimando of Redondo Union HS 2019 (Seahawks)

Handles it ok, moves ok without the ball, real good shooter with long 3-point range.

 

6’3 SG Brandon Walker of Fresno International Prep 2019

Ok athlete, can pass it, has a middle game in the half court, shoots it fairly well with 3range, ok driver, can rebound.

 

6’2 G/W Louis Walters of ABE Prep 2019

Big time hops, solid rebounder, can score, active without the ball.

Very athletic, solid ball handling skills, effective transition, playmakers, shoots it ok with long 3-point, can penetrate, has a nice first step/change of pace, does compete.

Big body, decent ball handler, can shoot it some with 3-range, can rebound in the box.

Good passer, has a motor, can dribble operate on the block, has a feel, decent shooter.
