This report covers the Hoop Review evaluation workout on Thursday September 24th. The event was a matchup between Team Havoc from Stockton and the Bay Area Warriors from San Francisco.

Team Havoc

6’4 PF/SF Nick Bell of Manteca HS 2021

Bell is an active and athletic combo forward with an impressive all-around game who gets things done. He has good hands and he elevate well.

He can handle the ball and he does attack in transition. He will go coast to coast to court unless you stop him. He can pull up in the half court and he has a nice one-bounce drive.

Bell is a capable post-up player who has a turn-around shot, a drop step and an up and under move. And he shoots it ok with 3-point range.

Most significantly, Bell is a very accomplished rebounder who is very active on the glass. He pursues every missed shot aggressively. He is also a capable defender inside and outside

Bell is a very legitimate 2021 prospect and college coaches need to get on him.

6’0 SG Justice Chase of Manteca HS 2022

Chase is a fairly athletic two guard who runs the floor well.

He is a capable ball handler and he can shoot it ok with 3-point range. He probably does need to show more at the offensive end.

Chase works hard at the defensive and really understands help defense quite well. He is also a capable rebounder from the guard position.

This is a player who is a steady performer who fits into a team well.

6’0 SG Bryant Davis of Manteca HS 2023

Davis is a real athletic shooting guard who has a pretty complete all-around game at both ends. He impacts the game in a big way.

He’s a solid ball handler who has an effective pull-up game, both in transition and in the half court. He’s a good driver with a nice first step and he has a solid hesitation move.

Most impressively, Davis is a light-out shooter with DEEP range. He can really fill it up from way downtown. And he has a clever floater shot as well.

He is a solid on-ball defender and a capable rebounder as well.

Davis is a very promising 2023 prospect with a bright future.

6’0 PG Ramesh Kabiri of Manteca HS 2023

Kabiri is a one-man who plays with a lot of confidence and hustle. And he seems to find ways to get things done.

He’s a confident ball handler and passer who is a team guy all the way. He is unselfish and is content to be a facilitator/distributor. But he can get to the basket on the drive if the situation calls for it.

Kabiri works hard at the defensive end and he is an ok rebounder.

This is a player who gives you a steady effort and performance and any coach will appreciate that.

6’0 SG Noah Lyons of Manteca HS 2023

Lyons is a strong-body two guard with a solid approach to the game.

He’s an ok ball handler and fairly good passer. He moves without it fairly well and he is effective at catch and shoot. His shot does need to be more consistent.

He goes hard to the basket on the drive and finishes strong and tough

Lyons is a decent defender on ball and does find the ways to come up with rebounds.

He has some hustle and does provide a spark for a team.

6’1 PG Bobby Martin of Manteca HS 2021

Martin is a skilled and efficient one-man with a pretty good understanding of how to play.

He’s a confident ball handler and a very nice passer. He can make plays for himself and others as the situation dictates. He can be a scorer or a facilitator equally effectively.

Martin finishes ok in transition and has a nice pull-up floater in the half court. He shoots it fairly well with 3-range and he has an ok hesitation move on the drive.

He probably needs to show more at the defensive end.

He is a 2021 prospect who will attract the attention of college coaches when they watch him play.

6’7 C Mahtaj Mehrok of Manteca HS 2022

Mehrok is a hard-working five man with a competent game at both ends of the floor. He can make a difference offensively and defensively.

He can dribble operate on the block and knows how to post up. He has a competent turnaround shot. And he does move without the ball. Mehrok is a capable passer who can find the open man.

He is a solid defender in the post and he can rebound in his box (area).

Mehrok will be a legitimate prospect in the class of 2022.

Bay Area Warriors

6’0 SG Cole Boake of University HS 2024

Boake is a confident shooting guard with a high IQ who is a real team guy all the way. He does a nice job fitting in and does not make a lot of mistakes.

He can handle and pass the ball and he knows how to play without it. And he can hit on open shot.

Boake probably needs to show a little more aggressiveness at the defensive end.

This kid is going to be a prospect as he continues to progress in the upcoming years.

6’2 SG Jackson Boake of University HS 2023

Boake is a two guard with a solid skill set and a good understanding of how to play. He is a guy the coach will have confidence in.

He is a capable ball handler and passer who makes pretty good decisions. He’s a good set shooter with 3-point range and he takes good shots.

Boake runs the floor consistently and creates opportunities for himself in that regard.

He finds ways to come up with rebounds through smarts and positioning.

Boake has potential for the next level and merits consideration.

6’2 SF Luke Bradley of University HS 2023

Bradley is a small forward who is a very efficient offensive player.

He is in constant motion without the ball and will make you pay if you fall asleep on him. He’s a fairly good set shooter with long range. And he is a quite effective at catch and shoot. His release is a little slow.

Bradley can find a way to get to the hoop on the drive and he shows a mid-range pull as well.

He makes the effort on the defensive end on a consistent basis

Bradley has some promise and belongs on the class of 2023 radar.

5’10 PG Raki Cabrera- Scarlata of University HS 2021

Cabrera-Scarlata is a competitive one-man with skills and lots of hustle to his game. He is a pretty complete player who brings a lot to the table.

He’s a good ball handler and passer who pushes the break consistently and makes plays. In the half court he has a very confident pull-up game.

Cabrera-Scarlata is a good shooter with 3 range who moves very well without the ball. He’s a solid driver/penetrator who can create and distribute. And he has a competent floater.

He does give a maximum effort at the defensive end.

College coaches – don’t sleep on this kid. He is a legitimate prospect.

6’6 C Joey Kennedy of University HS 2023

Kennedy is a five-man with a very nice all-around skill set. He can do damage in a lot of ways.

He has a solid post up game showing a no-jump hook, a drop step and a fadeaway shot. He can dribble operate and attract attention and makes the right pass if there is a double team.

Kennedy is also a confident 3-point shooter who can stretch the defense.

He will do a solid job-defending in the post and is an adequate rebounder.

Kennedy does need to develop more conditioning but he is a bone fade 2023 prospect with Division I potential.

5’8 PG Roman Leraris of University HS 2023

Leraris is an energetic one-man with some skills.

He handles it well and will push the break consistently. He does have a capable pull-up game in the half court.

Leraris shoots it fairly well with some range and he does move ok without it.

He is comfortable and capable running a team but is able to score some if need be.

Lerais does merit consideration in the 2023 class.

6’0 PG Grant Lyon of University HS 2023

Lyon is a productive one-man who creates problems for the opponent in a number of ways.

He’s confident ball handler who is effective in transition-he sees the floor well and he can finish. He’s a very good passer who gets the ball to the open man consistently.

Lyon has a sneaky first step and is able to get to the basket on the drive. And he can nail the perimeter shot if left open.

He has quick hands on defense and has some ability to pressure the ball.

Lyon is a college prospect in the class of 2022.

6’2 CG Ren Zanze of University HS 2021

Zanze is a hustling and skilled combo guard with an impressive all-around game.

He’s a good ball handler and passer who is a solid transition playmaker.

He goes real hard on the drive and can get to the rack and finish. He is a fairly good 3-point shooter with a lot of confidence.

Zange makes the effort as an on-ball defender and is a solid rebounder from the guard position.

This kid has a nice package and he definitely belongs on the radar in the 2021 class.
